The Mercury Newsreaders are available for Windows 98/NT/Me/2000/XP/2003.
Soon Macintosh versions will be published. Linux editions are available for download.
Other editions are investigated and some will be available soon.
The Mercury IExplorer toolbar will only available on Microsoft Windows.

The Mercury Newsreaders are available for download and free to use.
The screenshots of the newsreaders are all from the free versions.
Features of free the versions include:
- fully customizable RSS and RDF feeds (see syndic8.com, newsisfree.com and others)
- images relevant to the news, either coming from the originating website or an images site you prefer.
this is a unique feature only available in this newsreaders. caption and copyright included
- the about is a feed as well, demonstrating the usage of images within a feed
- the readers are "pull readers", no pushing from sites/feeds to reader

Mercury Feed reader
The Mercury RSS Feed reader is one of the nicest feed readers with probably most unique options available.

Whenever a browser is running, the Mercury RSS toolbar is available for displaying.
The toolband is easy to manage as it is always downloaded from a single source.

Mercury News ticker
The newsbar appears as an "always on top" application.
It can be moved to any position on the screen.
Hiding or closing is possible by selecting the application in the system tray.

Mercury Newsdesk
News always available on your desktop.
This application will replace your current desktop with the Mercury Newsdesk.
It completely customizable and has lot of configurations.

Kiosk or unattended Self service points
Put this on your kiosk or unattended self service points and your visitors and customers are happy to wait in your waiting room, service line.
It releaves your support desk. Customers can easily help them selves.
The installation is straight forward. Download, unzip, select .scr file and right click, select test/install/configure.
Customers use it as high profile for visitors and customers.
It is also used on unattended self service points.
It is not available for download because of the special features it requires to run as a kiosk application.

All readers are created with macromedia flash mx 2004 professional.
The allwaysontop newsbar, screensaver and application are created with SWFkit pro .
The IExplorer toolbar is created with software from text-reader .
The flash part is re-used for all the applications. One code fits all purposes.
Our customers demands a lot of functionality (see feature list) and a lot is relatively new.
Included is
- displaying of gif images in flash (the copyright issue as gif format belaongs to aol)
- flash cookies working together with browser cookies
- easy maintenance of preferences
- customized logging of internal usage
- browse html sources of (html) pages to fetch images
- customer font (myriad, syntax) in flash
However, we did enjoy this project a lot and are happy to share parts of this with you.
